Past Events
February 2025 | Imagine Downtown was the focus of the 40th annual meeting and celebration on February 5th. City and business leaders gathered for a dinner at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. Jay Renkens, Principal at MIG and lead consultant for the Imagine Downtown Duluth initiative, presented initial ideas about policies, projects, and programs to make Downtown Duluth even better. You can view the presentation here.
Attendees at the dinner and community members the following day provided their input about these ideas through interactive exercises.
October 2024 | Approximately 75 people joined us for a community meeting to discuss the future of Duluth’s Downtown on October 21st. Community members shared their input through various interactive stations, and heard a presentation given by our consultant team, MIG. A robust question and answer session followed, demonstrating the great interest in revitalizing downtown.
August 2024 | Members from the nationally recognized consulting team of MIG converged on Duluth in August. During that visit, they did on-the-ground fact finding and listening. They were involved in various tours of the downtown community, hosted focus groups, attended Power up the Plaza and discussed a 5-year vision with the Imagine Downtown Steering Committee.
Power Up The Plaza | Some questions that were asked at the event:
What is your favorite way to spend time in Duluth's downtown?
What is your vision for the future of Duluth's downtown?
What events would you like to see here in this space?

Focus Groups:
MIG's consulting team conducted several small focus groups to determine what community members considered important, and what they wanted to see in the downtown.
